Star Trek The Neutral Zone Description

Star Trek The Neutral Zone 1 is an independent Star Trek game. It is a battle simulator with elements of an arcade game. The game was actually somebody's first attempt of creating a multiplayer game, and that is why it is so basic. You are thrown into a small map along with other players and you have to shoot them down before they kill you. The game is played in space and you don't have to worry much about the controls because the game is 2D. So, you just go up, down, left, and right. Every ship shoots two weapons: phasers and torpedoes. Depending on your ship, you may get quantum torpedoes instead of photon torpedoes. While you are playing, some bonus items will appear on screen. They will give you health regeneration, fix your shields, give you immunity for a little while, etc. The computer AI doesn't really care about them, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. Graphics-wise, the game is rather simple, but commercial games don't have too much on it. Models are pretty much the same as in other games from the Star Trek universe. The maps are rather small, and some have planets on them that serve no purpose other than filling space. You can't use them as temporary hideouts or crash into them. There is a multiplayer mode available, which connects you to other players via TCP/IP. All in all, this game is not commercial-grade. It is just a good proof of concept. That doesn't mean fun can't be had when playing it, though. José Fernández Editor rating:
