SQL-Splitter Description

By default, the import size limit in phpMyAdmin is set to 2MB. If your database exceeds this value, you have two solutions: either you modify the limit by editing the php.INI file or you use an application such as SQL-Splitter to divide large SQL files into smaller pieces. Thanks to the simplistic interface, this application shouldn't pose any problems as far as usage is concerned. The GUI consists of two separate panes, one for viewing the loaded file and the other dedicated to setting the splitting parameters. While its main purpose is to help you split SQL files, the application also integrates a simple editor that features syntax highlighting, line numbering and basic font formatting options, enabling you to perform modifications to the SQL file and save it to your computer. SQL-Splitter enables you to select the output directory, choose the name of the split files and customize their size. All its actions are displayed in the logging area and the task progress is shown within the main window. It bundles additional options for automatically detecting and removing comments and blank lines from your code. Despite its name, the application can also process CSV spreadsheets, splitting them in multiple files of a user-defined size. SQL-Splitter an prove useful to any database administrator, providing them with a convenient and fast way to divide large CSV or SQL files into multiple parts of reduced size, at satisfactory processing speeds. Unfortunately, it does not allow you to join previously split files, so you will have to look for some other tool that can perform the reverse operation.
