nbtscan is a lightweight utility that you allows you to quickly search for open shares on a local or remote TCP-IP network by scanning for open NETBIOS name servers. It’s a command line utility that was developed from the ‘nbtstat’ tool and apart from the latter, enables you to work on a number of addresses instead of one. Since nbtscan runs from the command line, it doesn’t display an interface. You make use of it through simple arguments. To run the application you can either locate it from within the ‘Command Prompt’ screen or simply drag and release the EXE file inside it.
