If you need to send an email broadcast to a list, one of the pitfalls is when you get half of the emails returned or blocked by automatic spam detectors. The way these detectors work is by scanning your email content for certain words or phrases. If such words are in your text or subject, the email is labelled as Spam. The NotSpam application was developed to be a small tool for scanning your email before you send it. NotSpam contains a library of over 300 words and phrases commonly flagged as spam. You can scan text files, html files or subject lines and it will list out any words it finds, so you can then re-edit your text to 're-phrase' it using other words. When you put the text through NotSpam again and it shows no results, you know the email text is ready to send with a much reduced chance of it being spam-blocked by servers or recipients.
