Here is the official description for MetaGuard: MetaGuard is a service that monitors the health of Windows computers on a network. The service uses the Windows Performance Monitoring API to watch CPU, disk and Memory Usage and response times. When configurable limits are exceeded MetaGuard can send alerts via email, Syslog or the Windows messaging service. MetaGuard displays the health of each monitored host in a web site which can be published using the built in web server or the web server built into Windows. Requires a network account for the service credentials. The service will run for 30 days before requiring registration.
