Font Explorer Description
Font Explorer is one of the many Windows freebies currently on the market that allow you to view the installed fonts. Just like all the other apps, Font Explorer scans the Windows installation folder and displays the installed fonts in a very clean and well-organized list. Of course, clicking on any of the available items is the only thing you need to do in order to access a broad range of details, such as type face, filename, font type, scripts, weight, family and pitch. The interface is nothing special, but it lets you easily preview a specific font and access the character set, while also providing basic alignment and size options. You can sort fonts by name, type, font family and pitch and even generate a font list in rich text format that can be then printed or simply exported to local disks. A help section is also available, but it doesn't comprise any help manual, so it's pretty useless in case you need more information on a specific option. The app however lacks some important features, such as the possibility to install new fonts, remove the existing ones or simply access the fonts stored in another folder on your computer. All things considered, Font Explorer is a helpful product, but users may expect a much more modern interface and a richer feature package. It does its job, that's true, but rookies are very likely the only user category to be impressed. Reviewed by Bogdan Popa, last updated on September 6th, 2012
