Here is the official description for Filex: Filex is a full featured directory scanning utility. Based on matching a set of user defined file specification parameters, including the File Extension, a date range of the files last modified date and a file size range, the utility is able to: • list files. • find files where one or more text values appear. • replace text in files. • change the File Attributes and last modified date. • delete files. • Copy files from one directory to another. • MOVE files from one directory to another. • update files with a later file modification date. • truncate file names that exceed a given length. This is very useful in the case of CD burners that reject files over a certain length. A command shell based utility, Filexd, provides all of the above functionality from a command shell executable so that Batch jobs may be run.
