If you have not studied the foreign language in school or in other context , you will start with level "Beginner". Here there are selected 1000 of the most frequently used words, enough for a tourist. You'll have to fill the process of learning words with some notions of grammar and pronunciation rules, with the reading of easy texts in that language , with listening and reproduction of dialogues in that language (from TV, for example). You need at least 3 months, an hour per day for this level. Accedy is an application which allows users to learn and practice a foreign language. The level " Medium " contains 5000 of the most frequently used words and requires at least one year of study. And this level requires additional reading texts in that language. Why? Some words have 2 or more meanings and if you do not use the words correctly, you'll have a "strange" expression , incomprehensible for discussion partners . The level " Advanced " should be your goal. To learn 10000 words you'll need at least 18 months, an hour a day. Seems to be a great effort but, until the day someone will invent a chip to upgrade our brain, is the only solution. The basic idea is that, regardless of the proposed level , study few hours every week.
