Beta version of the taxi metre being used in taxis for the past year. Please let us know of any bugs you find or ideas you would like incorporated. This free version has a set fare, the professional version will allow you to change the fare charged the customer. admin@taxisoft.ca for information. Use this app to play taxi-driver for your friends and family, see how valuable you are with all the running around you do for them. It can also be used as a speedometer and gps position finder. If you are a professional taxi driver try out the free version, then contact us at admin@taxisoft.ca and tell us what you like, or don’t like and what improvements you would like to see in future versions. The screen shows “On Duty/Off Duty”, 24 hour clock,latitude and longitude of your current position, indicates if you are on or off line for data transmission (professional version). The cost for the passenger is broken down to distance (distance traveled times rate per distance – plus the flag cost), Time (standby time while waiting for passengers, traffic lights etc. charges time while the car is stopped or moving at a walking pace.), Tax (the tax is calculated separately) and the total cost of the trip (rounded in ten cent increments). On the lower right side of the screen is the vehicle speed in either KPH or MPH selectable by touching the “MPH” or “KPH” text. At low speeds the speed is shown in green, medium speeds in blue and high speeds in red. When the taxi is at rest, the driver has the option to charge wait time or not. Bottom left button toggles this charge and turns red when time is not being charged, green when it is charging. The text will toggle as per the driver’s preference; the colour will toggle according to the car speed and driver preference. The taxi icon is to put the meter in pause mode. Normal procedure is to start the metre by touching the “On Duty” button; at the destination touch the taxi graphic to pause the metre and then when paid for the trip, touch the “off duty” button again. At that point a window will pop up asking for the fare received. For the free version simply touch OK, for the professional version, if the fare paid is less than the total required, the fare paid is entered, or if the full fare is paid, then OK will transmit that amount to the server and be entered on the electronic trip sheet. The professional version will communicate with our server and allow secure fare changes, electronic trip sheets and integrate with accounting. Since driver theft can be a problem for owners, the professional version also helps to eliminate that problem. Please enjoy this app and let us know how we can improve it, and how it can be worked into your taxi business to make it more efficient and profitable. admin@taxisoft.ca KNOWN ISSUES: On one LG Opus One it was reported that the first start crashed, then starting the app again, it worked perfectly for all trips on that shift. One driver reported one incident of putting the metre on pause, waiting, then taking it off pause and the ammount zeroed. Only one incident of this reported, and it may be that the driver touched the wrong button but it is on our bug list.
