The Air Pollution Map App was developed by GCS Research, an award winning geospatial technology company based in Missoula, Montana. This map shows the number of Particulate Matter Days recorded in 2005 in the Contiguous U.S., by state and county. A Particulate Matter Day is defined as a day that air quality is over the National Ambient Air Quality Standard for fine particulate matter (FPM, less than 2.5µm in diameter). For a complete list of indicators, please visit http://www.healthypeople.gov/2020/LHI/default.aspx. Note that many of the indicators on the Healthy Living list are not broken out below the national level; substitutions were made based on data in the Health Indicator warehouse (http://www.healthindicators.gov).
