Piano Booster Description
Learn how to play the piano PianoBooster is a free and open source, fun way of playing along with a musical accompaniment and at the same time learning the basics of reading musical notation. The difference between playing along to a CD or a standard midi file is that PianoBooster listens and follows what you are playing on a midi piano keyboard. Here are some key features of "Piano Booster": · Piano Booster follows your playing when playing along to a musical accompaniment. (If you stop then so does the music). · Play a single hand and Piano Booster will play the other hand in time with you (and will also play the violins, the bass, the drums etc. in time with you). · Change the speed of playback to match your playing ability. · Transpose +/- 12 semitones without stopping the play back. · Change the Key Signature of the piece. · Plays any standard midi or kar file. · Play along to any instrument in the midi file. · Adjust the volume of the current part or the volume your piano part. · See the accuracy of you playing. · Change the start bar to start playing from any bar in the music. The repeat bars allows you to practice just a few difficult bars continuously. · Timing markers are white crosses that are drawn over each note and show if you are playing ahead or behind the beat. · A different instrument sound is used for the right and wrong notes that you play. Requirements: · MIDI Piano Keyboard · MIDI-USB interface What's New in This Release: · Added note names for beginners (to be used with a piano key note labels) · Added assignable left and right midi channels. · Improved MIDI timing accuracy. · Greatly reduced the memory footprint. · Reduced the CPU load. · Reduced the screen flicker (recommend setting the screen refresh rate to 60Hz · and for Intel Graphic chips updating the drivers). · Added keyboard short-cuts. These are - speed up/down, play from start, · play/pause, next previous song, left right both hands. · Remembers the song settings in a configuration file called "pb.cfg". · these are the midi channels, speed, left right or both hands. · Now works well Ubuntu 9.10 and Intel graphic chips. · (Those with Ubuntu 9.04 and Intel should upgrade to 9.10 and this version) · Fixed various start up issues. · Now correctly notates repeated accidentals that occur in a single bar. · Added the option to display courtesy accidentals. · Added a simple help page. · Added an installer for windows. · 'make install' now works on Linux. · Now works with small screens eg an EEE-701 (for Trev)
