GNU WebSocket4J is a free and open-source server side WebSocket protocol implementation written in the Java programming language. GNU WebSocket4J will enable developers to create Web apps that work with applications running in a JVM. Additionally, GNU WebSocket4J can be used to build both WebSocket servers and clients because it implements both the server and client side of the protocol. Being developed using Java, GNU WebSocket4J is a cross-platform tool which can be used on any operating system that comes with Java support (e.g. Mac OS X, Windows, Linux).
