Symbide Description

Symbide is a Python IDE with strong emphasis on physical and mathematical calculations. Symbide is a Python IDE with strong emphasis on mathematical and physical calculations, that afterwards have to be presented to an audience.Basically Symbide can be used like any other Python IDE. It supports for example, syntax-highlighting, error backtracking and execution abortion. However, Symbide's strength is to let the user perform interactively his calculations and to provide convenient features to present this calculations. Therefore it is possible to draw plots with various back-ends and let them automatically be embedded in the output. Also any other types of images can be imported easily. Afterwards the calculations can either be saved in Symbide's own .symb format (xml) or be exported as HTML file.Installation:Actually you don't have to really install Symbide if you only want to test it out. It's enough to get the latest source distribution from http://symbide.googlecode.com and extract the archive anywhere. Then just run the Symbide.py file in the symbide directory e.g. through typing:python Symbide.pyThis should do the trick and open Symbide's main window. Alternatively you could set Symbide.py executable and start it with a double click. However, if you prefer system-wide installation, you can easily achieve that by following the instructions in Installation on Windows or Installation on Linux. The advantage is that all users of your OS can use Symbide without the need to download it separately.Requirements:· Python· GTK+· PyGTK· GtkSourceView (optional)· Sympy (optional)· Gnuplot (optional)· PIL (optional)· 4suite (optional)· Numpy (optional)· Scipy (optional) Requirements: · Python · GTK · PyGTK · GtkSourceView (optional) · Sympy (optional) · Gnuplot (optional) · PIL (optional) · 4suite (optional) · Numpy (optional) · Scipy (optional)
