Hardware acceleration and layers testing extension Grafx Bot is a Firefox extension designed to allow users to help Mozilla test hardware compatibility with the new hardware acceleration and layers features in Firefox 4.Who should download and use Grafx Bot?You should download, install, and run Grafx Bot if all of the following apply to you:1. You are using the latest beta version of Firefox 4 on Windows, Mac or Linux.2. You are willing to allow Grafx Bot to send anonymous test data and hardware information to Mozilla for analysis to help us understand how well new graphics features in Firefox are working on your system.3. You are willing to allow Grafx Bot to run tests on your system for about 5 to 15 minutes, depending on your system's speed.4. You want to help Mozilla identify potential problems in these major new features.How to use Grafx BotTo use Grafx Bot, download and install this extension. The Grafx Bot tests will run fastest, and the data you generate for analysis by Mozilla will be most valuable, if you do this in a brand new profile. See this article for information on how to create a new profile.Once the extension is installed, go to the Tools menu and select the Grafx Bot menu item. If you are running on Windows 7, you may need to make the menubar visible before you will see the Tools menu; to do this, select the Firefox menu, and choose Customize -> Menu Bar.After you select the Grafx Bot menu item, Grafx Bot's homepage will appear. To run the tests, simply press the Start button. Grafx Bot will open a new browser window, in which images and colors will flicker for several minutes. Once the tests are finished, Grafx Bot will display a summary window, and you must press the Send button to send your test results to Mozilla.If Grafx Bot detected any potential test failures on your system, it may ask you to help it determine if the failure is valid. It will display two images side-by-side on your screen, and you should select either Pass or Fail, depending on whether the two images look exactly identical to you or not.The information that Grafx Bot sends to Mozilla is anonymous, and includes all the test results for the tests that it ran on your system. It also includes some basic information about your system's hardware. To see what hardware information Grafx Bot sends to Mozilla, click on the "System Info" link on Grafx Bot's homepage. To see Grafx Bot's privacy policy, click on the "Privacy Policy" link at the bottom of Grafx Bot's homepage.How do I provide feedback about Grafx Bot?If you have some feedback about Grafx Bot, you can leave that feedback as a comment for this add-on. Alternately, a comment field is provided in the summary screen after running a Grafx Bot test, where you can provide feedback before Grafx Bot submits its data to Mozilla.
