A web-based system to address scholarly needs for searching, selecting and accessing archival media materials. bVault is a web-based system to address scholarly needs for searching, selecting and accessing archival media materials.In conversation with the scholars, the WGBH Media Library and Archives staff discovered that academic researchers want not only to pinpoint items relevant to their work, but also to get an overview of collections and their relationships to other materials. For example, scholars researching in media collections may seek information about the provenance of a particular slice of footage, who shot it, who owns it, and how it was used (or not used,) by producers for a particular WGBH program or web site. And they want to do this all online. In addition, they want to see how media items relate not only to their collections, but to other items within the archive. Requirements: · A Fedora Commons Repository, version 3.0 or higher · The Solr search application, version 1.2 or higher · A MySQL database, version 5.0 or higher · PHP 5.1 or higher · Zend Framework 1.6 or higher
