The VTQLserver package contains a server and clients for videotext access for Linux. The VTQLserver package contains a server and clients for videotext access for Linux. The server stores the pages of several TV-stations for parallel reading and searching.You can run many clients in parallel i.e. search all videotext pages, and view them. The only limit is, that the server does not scale well and is not as stable as you may expect it for running it on a server machine. It is intended to be used on workstations, since I do not think, servers have TV cards nor do I have a server machine.Requirements:· VTQLserver should run on any UNIX system, but the video/vbi access is only possible for certian Linux kernels and certian video chips. I'll try to use the more portable libzvbi one day, but there are still enough problems outside the video/vbi interface to solve. Anyway, on a everyday system with a standart Linux distribution on a ix86/alpha/mac it should work fine and the requierments below should be satisfied.What's New in This Release:· VTQLserv_start is now vts_start· config socket has no defaults· removed some strange behaviour at VTQLclient· SysV script is now seperate and _calls_ VTQLserv_start· text search is now case sensitive· documentation updates· added manpages· major redesign of libvtql· libvtql uses disk database to get the page data.· major code cleanup· better error handling and signal safty· text search is no longer in server· all page data is now mapped on disk.· removed unnecessary fork in VTQLclient· improved user inerface at console_vt· mode insert is no longer needed (INSERT is now a admin command)· using now filters, instead of "page match"· disabled LINE events (who would ever have used this feature)· changed to new event output· "show freq" is now "freq show"· better support of default values in VTQLserver· upate to xawtv-3.81 freqtab
