UHU-Linux Description
UHU-Linux is an independent distribution of Linux built around the controversial GNOME graphical desktop environment, with the modern GNOME Shell interface. It includes a wide-range of open-source applications and utilities for daily use. The distribution supports mainstream architectures, comes as a Live DVD The user will be able to download UHU-Linux from Softpedia by clicking the download button above, or directly from its homepage (see link above for details). It comes as a dual-arch Live DVD ISO image of approximately 2GB in size, which has been engineered to support both 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (amd64) hardware platforms. You can start the live system or a memory diagnostic test from the boot menu The distro’s boot menu offers the ability to start the live system with support for i386 or x86_64 instruction set architectures, with default kernel parameters or with the nomodeset option. Additionally, you can run a memory diagnostic test using Memtest. Among some of the pre-installed applications, we can mention the Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger, Midnight Commander and GNOME Commander two-pane file managers, XSane image scanner, Vim advanced text editor, Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client, LibreOffice office suite, Linphone and Ekiga softphones, GIMP image editor, Mozilla Firefox web browser, gFTP file transfer client, gThumb and GQview image viewers, and Cheese webcam viewer.
