Another dark theme for GNOME desktops Tourmaline is a GTK theme created using elements from MidnightDream and Shiki-Colors-Metacity themes, many thanks go to the creators of those projects!Developer commentsI also recommend trying out the Humanity-Dark or Humanity icon theme(default in Ubuntu 9.10) UbuntaeroStudio cursor theme and, if you are an Emerald user, my UbuntuFrost emerald theme. I have included links to these projects below.To install the Tourmaline theme all you have to do is extract the folder 'Tourmaline' and copy it to /usr/share/themes. This is NOT where you want to copy the other items... if you choose to download the cursor and/or icons you will want to copy these to the folder /usr/share/icons. To do this you will need root permissions so I recommend opening a terminal and typing 'sudo nautilus' to open a root-authorized nautilus browser, you can then browse to the appropriate folders and copy the themes over. Once you are done exit the nautilus browser FIRST and THEN exit the terminal.About GNOME:GNOME is an international effort to build a complete desktop environment—the graphical user interface which sits on top of a computer operating system—entirely from free software.
