JAlbum Description

JAlbum is a web photo album generator. JAlbum is a gallery software that makes web albums of your digital images.JAlbum aims to be the easiest to use and most powerful tool in this category - and free! With JAlbum, no extra software is needed to view the albums, -just your web browser. Unlike "server side" album scripts, JAlbum albums can be served from a plain web server without scripting support. You can also share your albums on CD-ROM.JAlbum runs on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and others and speaks 24 languages. Today JAlbum is mentioned over 3.000.000 times on the Internet (Google/Altavista) and this site has over 7000 visitors per day and a live community. I hope you find it your tool of choice for sharing images. JAlbum is written after numerous disappointments with existing album software. With JAlbum you have full control of the look of the generated album, not just color theme and basic layout, still making an album is just a matter of drag and drop + a button click if you prefer to use one of the many existing looks. JAlbum will process your images, make index pages and slide show pages and even upload the final album to the Internet for your friends to see.JAlbum runs on a multitude of machines. This is possible as JAlbum uses a "Java runtime" (also known as "Java VM") to convert its code to the language of each platform. This wonderful ability might however require you to download a "Java runtime" first. When this is done, you can enjoy a multitude of advanced Java programs. Remember, no Java is needed to view the albums. Here are some key features of "JAlbum": · Easy to use. Just drag and drop an image folder onto JAlbum, select an output directory and press "Make album" · Use any web browser to view the generated albums. No special viewing software needed. Albums can be served from any web server, a local harddisk, CR-ROM etc. · Album appearance can be highly customized through use of skins (HTML template files, style sheets, customized icons etc). Create your own album look by making your own skin! (Requires HTML skills) · Can create albums with text and comments in any language. · JAlbum supports deep hierachies of image folders. Each folder is represented by a folder icon in the resulting web. You can easily organize thousands of images. · Any file type, not just images, can also be added to albums (with icons linking to the resource) · Easy to use wizard that helps you create an on-line web account for publishing your images (You can also use your existing account). · Integrated smart FTP client with synchronization ability so you publish the created album on the Internet in a snap. · EXIF support. Camera make, shutter speed, aperture and other metadata can be extracted from images and used in albums · Image filters can be plugged in to enhance images during album generation, adding watermarking, logos etc. An open API and source code example are provided so developers easily can add new filters. · Really advanced album functions can be scripted in a Java-like language called BeanShell. This allows for limitless extensions to JAlbum. · It's a JavaBean! The inner engine of JAlbum is a JavaBean meaning that you can easily integrate it into existing Java applications. An example could be inside a webserver for automated album generation. Here is an API for the bean. · It runs in console mode too (shell window). This allows for easy automation repeating album generation tasks through batch files etc. · Runs everywhere. It's Java so it runs on Windows, Macintosh OS X, Linux, Solaris, AIX, OS/2, eComStation... Any platform that supports Java 1.3 · It's free and that's no bull. No expiration dates. No nag screens. No adware. No spyware. No bad conscience, However, a donation to support this project is highly appreciated. Requirements: · Java 2 Standard Edition Runtime Environment What's New in This Release: News and Updates: · Publishing from the command line now capable of creating missing directories on the server · Jalbum's image crop tool/filter is now more convenient to work with. Hold down SHIFT at any time to snap a region to the selected image ratio. · New image scalers and image processors (loading, scaling, filtering, saving) can now be plugged in. · Translating Jalbum's image filters is now easier · Better reporting if an album doesn't fit before publishing · New icons · Jalbum now processes a common.css file during album making · Renaming a project will also reset the remote destination folder. This in order to avoid publishing a new album on top of another. · When signing in, new account profiles are set up unless there are only non-jalbum accounts set up. · The generation of thumbnails can be switched off in the album engine. Bug fixes: · Publishing from the command line when passing a project file as parameter failed · Jalbum produced a "Do you want to save changes" dialog when the only change was "Make all" vs "Make changes"
