GnuPG allows to encrypt and sign your data and communication, features a versatile key managment system as well as access modules for all kind of public key directories. GnuPG, also known as GPG, is a command line tool with features for easy integration with other applications. A wealth of frontend applications and libraries are available.GnuPG is Free Software (meaning that it respects your freedom). It can be freely used, modified and distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License .Version 1.0.0 has been released on September 7th, 1999. The current stable version is 1.4.6 .Project Aegypten provides Sphinx-Clients (Mutt, KMail, ...) compatible to S/MIME within a GnuPG framework. Within this project a few new tools have been developed, most notably "gpgsm" as the S/MIME counterpart of "gpg".Project Gpg4win provides a Windows version of GnuPG. It is nicely integrated into a installer and features several frontends as well as (German) manuals.What's New in This Release:· A possible memory corruption while importing OpenPGP keys was fixed.· AES encryption performance was improved by more than 20% on x86, and decryption is also slightly faster. What's New in This Release: · 2048 bit RSA keys are now generated by default. · The default hash algorithm preferences have changed to prefer SHA-256 over SHA-1. · 2048 bit DSA keys are now generated to use a 256 bit hash algorithm. · Support for v2 OpenPGP cards was added. · Support for the Camellia cipher (RFC-5581) was implemented. · Support for HKP keyservers over SSL ("HKPS") was added. · The algorithm for computing the SIG_ID status was changed to match the one used in version 2.0.10. · File locking was improved. · A memory leak which made imports of many keys very slow was fixed. · Many smaller bugs were fixed.
