FutureLooks Description

A modern theme for your GNOME desktop FutureLooks is a GTK theme for the GNOME desktop. Also available are window borders and a nice recoloring of one of the default Ubuntu Jaunty wallpapers.Developer commentsIn my humble opinion, it is one of the most simple and visually appealing themes available on GNOME, whilst its murrine base keeps it snappy. It is strongly recommended you use the Emerald theme as I am yet to find a true metacity equivalent. If you don't want to use emerald, the GTK will default to a boring Metacity theme. Also strongly recommended are the Liberation fonts at size 10, which can be installed on Ubuntu with:sudo aptitude install ttf-liberation...either Meliae or Elementary icons also go well with this theme. They are also available here on GNOME-look.The Panel background is there, but you need to hover your mouse over the top left corner until you see a magnifier, then right-click and "save as" to download it from Firefox. If you graphics card/driver supports it, enabling the blur plugin on emerald and compiz itself will make the transparencies a lot more subtle and polished. How to install?· Right click on your desktop and select Change Desktop Background· Click on the first tab: Theme· Drag and drop the theme's archive in the Appearance Preferences window.· If everything is OK, you will receive a confirmation message and you can activate the theme just by clicking on it.About GNOME:GNOME is an international effort to build a complete desktop environment—the graphical user interface which sits on top of a computer operating system—entirely from free software. This goal includes creating software development frameworks, selecting application software for the desktop, and working on the programs which manage application launching, file handling, and window and task management.GNOME is part of the GNU Project and can be used with various Unix-like operating systems, most notably Linux, and as part of Java Desktop System in Solaris. The name originally stood for GNU Network Object Model Environment, though this acronym is deprecated. The GNOME project puts heavy emphasis on simplicity, usability, and making things “just work”. Requirements: · gtk+ · GNOME What's New in This Release: · A new metacity, based on my own modifications of Shiki-colors, has been added and will be used instead of the old emerald theme, which was barely used. · Lightened default gtk colors · Made theme follow shiki's menu item behavior (color now fills the whole selection) · Scrollbars are slightly thicker again to be in proportion to the other widgets · Several other tweaks to proportions, colors used, etc · Meliae is no longer a recommended icon theme. · You can download all the theme elements in one file now.
